La Briantina Spa has been operating for over 60 years in the trade of goods for daily housekeeping.

Starting from the traditional production of brooms, from which the company was born, the array of products has adapted over time to meet market demands, opening the business to other categories such as carpets for the home, household accessories, and scented and decorative waxes. Over the years, La Briantina has expanded its distribution chain in several European markets. In alignment with what was achieved in sales, the search for supply sources was characterized by the progressive expansion from a purely national purchasing market to the global market and a widening supply chain.

Problem

La Briantina has always wanted to be the reference point for its customers as a service modeled on their needs, offering an extensive range of guaranteed quality products, and to fulfill the role as the only reference point in the industry. Reconciling the high and diversified demand for products with the need for an efficient and fast service was starting to become a problem for La Briantina. For this reason, it turned to Automha with which it designed an automatic warehouse for pallets in synergy with the picking warehouse designed to accommodate the storage of products from various international suppliers.

Solution

The plant was built inside a new building, built adjacent to the existing warehouses and divided into two macro-areas: storage / warehouse and external operators / conveyor interface. The result obtained perfectly matches the needs of the customer with the potential of the 4.0 technology. The area used for loading / unloading pallets in the warehouse is managed by forklift, in interface with motorized roller conveyor systems. From here on, the whole process is computerized. In fact, after checking the barcode, the pallet advances and the conformity of the shape and weight is checked automatically. After verification, if the pallet is not compliant, it returns to the loading position for further checks by the operator, otherwise if everything proceeds well, it advances to the orthogonal transfer unit where it remains waiting to be taken by the stacker crane to be stored in the position defined by the AWM software, through the use of the BK Supercap satellite. The pick-up of the pallet for the unloading is always carried out by the satellite Supercap BK that picks it up from its position, then take it on board the stacker crane, from here you return to the position in interface with the orthogonal output driver and further downstream on the roller conveyors of exit.

The plant is composed of:
– Nr 1 bi-column stacker cranes
– Nr 1 Backup Supercap satellite on board;
– Nr 1 entrance bay;
– Nr 1 exit bay.

Everything is managed with the Automha AWM management software in conjunction with the ERP of the customer. The automatic warehouse for pallets can store up to 2700 pallets and guarantees 24-hour inside and outside flows.

The systems of material storage and distribution today are an integral part of the logistics system and represent the link in the chain that connects producers and consumers.

The solution designed by Automha has allowed La Briantina to continue to provide its numerous and demanding customers with a quality and efficient service, with a considerable reduction in order management times. With the stacker crane, the inputs and outputs of the loads are executed by optimizing the movements (combined cycle). This increases the productivity of the plants while decreasing the use of resources for their operation. Currently, the company occupies a covered area of 20,000 m² distributed in 4 real estate units capable of accommodating up to 18,000 pallets.
