Problem
Linea Light Group offers the widest range of spotlights and LED lights in Europe: more than 1,600 models available in the catalog, rising to 50,000 considering all their possible variations. The group’s facilities are in Italy, where the company has decided to keep growing and investing. It is precisely in the new Italian headquarters, near Treviso, that the company management has chosen to turn the old function of the company warehouse from a “necessary evil” to an essential part of the supply chain, a competitive weapon for reducing costs and increasing the level of service, where technology plays a major role.

Solution
The implemented solution, developed with Automha’s consultation since the planning stage, is an automated Booster model mini-load warehouse. This warehouse is composed of two dedicated storage machines dedicated to the collection and storage of semi-finished products destined for the assembly lines. The mini-load is powered by a handling system on two levels, with a silhouette/wight control device and lifters at the head and tail. The mini load Booster rises on an area of 300sqm, 10.5 m height and can stock up to 8,120 plastic boxes of 600x400x200 dimensions for a maximum weight of 50 kg. The solution is completed using barcode technology to ensure complete traceability of materials, in all areas of the plant.

From an informational point of view, the company uses a corporate management software which is interfaced with the AWM Automha software. AWM oversees the mini-load operations. During picking operations, the company software interfaces with the mini-load software to launch more missions simultaneously.

Advantages
The installed system increases production efficiency by speeding up the operations (especially the picking activities), reducing the percentage of errors, and improving the stock management, and has guaranteed an increased reactivity in cases of discrepancies. The Treviso company does not rule out possible future expansions, thanks to the strategic role played by the Booster miniload automatic warehouse.
