Made in Italy overseas: the automatic warehouse Autosatmover is the solution chosen by Ben E. Keith, one of the major food distribution centers in North America
Automha achieved an extremely important goal in the 3PL sector, thanks to the Autosatmover technology, the innovative solution that met the need of one of the major food & beverage distribution centers in the United States, Ben E. Keith.
The Client Company needed a global improvement of its internal logistics, significantly increasing the shipping speed and order fulfillment.
The massive arrival of goods by the manufacturing companies and the huge amount of orders shipped daily made the decision to create a completely automatic and performing storage system almost obligatory. To make the choice of the partner difficult, however, were three important aspects: the need to create a controlled temperature and humidity warehouse, the need to store in multi-depth keeping extremely high cyclical cycles and the peculiar handling of the “beer pallet”, a pallet of dimensions specifications for this product
Both these requirements have led to the choice of Automha, a company that first created ad hoc solutions for low and very low temperature systems and that patented the first fully automatic and modular machine able to store goods in multi-depth with high speeds and maximum precision, automatic warehouse Autosatmover.
The solution proposed by Automha consists in the creation of a self-supporting warehouse with a length of 65 meters and a height of 25 meters.
The system develops at a temperature between +4 and +10°C with a constant humidity. The ability of AUTOMHA machines to maintain their performance unchanged even with these conditions is due to careful and precise mechanical and electronic measures, supported by the R&D department of the Italian Headquarters.
The system includes:
– 2 storage areas divided into 8 levels, each of which served by an Autosatmover vehicle, for a total of 16 machines installed in the plant. Autosatmover runs on a special lane, perpendicular to the storage lanes.
Once you reach the lane suggested by the software, Supercap, the vehicle on board Autosatmover, detaches and deposits the load unit in the indicated place, then returns to the mother ship, ready for a new mission. The supercap satellite has been specially designed with the dimensions necessary for the storage of “beer pallets”, smaller and narrower than the usual ones.
– 4 four-column lifter, which bring pallets in or out to the warehouse loading / unloading bays. This solution allows to fully optimize the system storage rhythms; while in fact the machines are engaged in an inbound mission, the elevator is already predisposing the loading units of the next mission.
– 3 exit bays, 2 entrance bays and 2 entrance / exit bays. These last two bays are used according to the temporary needs of the warehouse.
The warehouse created by Automha makes it possible to store a total number of load units equal to 15,000, for a maximum weight of each UDC of 1000 kg. The system also guarantees movements of 120 pallets per hour for both inbound activities and outbound.
The client company was able to take full advantage of the available space, maximizing the ability to process orders and store goods, which are fundamental characteristics for a company in the 3PL sector. Added to this is the ability of the AWM warehouse management software to keep track of all movements of the load units, organizing the storage according to production dates and evasion needs.
